Aya Jaff develops her first app at the age of 15, founds a programming club shortly thereafter and develops the stock market simulation "Tradity" together with friends - today one of the largest social stock market simulation games in Germany.

In the meantime, she is one of Germany's best-known programmers and made the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2019 in her mid-20s. The ZEIT calls her "Mrs. Code", for the Handelsblatt she is the "star of the tech industry". As a techie and founder, one topic in particular comes into focus for Aya Jaff: digital sustainability, thought out in an entrepreneurial way.

Her first book "Moneymakers: How you can discover the stock market for yourself" (2020) was a SPIEGEL bestseller. In it, she shares her trader experiences and reveals which investment strategies promise success for young people.

Hartwig Bazzanella, a computer scientist, is the managing director of NCB New Consultancy in Business GmbH, which has been supporting its customers in a wide range of industries in information technology issues since 1991. A possible solution to the new energy efficiency law? The use of new computing technology through Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) in combination with High Performance Computing (HPC) and quantum computing.

By switching to a current container technology, the requirements for a modern and scalable technology can be met with regard to the Energy Efficiency Act. With this technology, data centers with a Hyper Converged Infrastructure (HCI) as a High Performance Computer (HPC) can provide applications in an incredible performance. This new technology allows an extremely large number of applications to be run in a very small space and thus with extremely little energy per application. An initial estimate is that this saving alone can completely supply a major city in Germany with energy.

AIM systems for the management of cabling infrastructures

Simone Menne worked at Lufthansa AG from 1989 to 2016. From 1999 to 2004, she was responsible for commercial administration and human resources. From 2004 to 2010, Menne took over as Head of Finance and Accounting at Lufthansa Technik. In 2010, Menne moved to the airline British Midland as CFO until she was appointed Chief Financial Officer of Deutsche Lufthansa in 2012.

Eberhard Knödler is the managing director of BM Green Cooling, a company specializing in energy-efficient cooling solutions for data centers. He has been working in this field for over 20 years and is considered a pioneer in the industry.

Political Requirements from the Energy Efficiency Act: Threat or Opportunity? Solutions from practice.

In his presentation at dtm netforum 2023, Knödler will focus on the policy requirements for data center operators related to energy efficiency and the use of natural refrigerants, as well as the obligation to use waste heat. Here, he will discuss how these requirements present both challenges and opportunities for data center operators.

Augmented Intelligence - How we make better decisions with data and AI.

Large language models like ChatGPT "understand" contexts. At the same time, they access almost the entire (digitized) wealth of human experience. This makes something possible that AI has failed at up to now: automating decisions. This is especially true for management decisions that are made regularly and are well documented.

Prof. Dr. Christian Stöcker is head of the "Digital Communication" course at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences. Previously, he was head of the Net World department at SPIEGEL ONLINE. As an expert on digital public issues, he advised the Bundestag, the Enquete Commission "Artificial Intelligence - Social Responsibility and Economic, Social and Ecological Potential", and the Thuringian state parliament, among others.

In 2010, he received the Prize for Science Journalism and Science Communication of the German Psychological Society. In the fall of 2020, his most recent book "Das Experiment sind wir" (The Experiment is Us) was published about the so-called "Great Acceleration", which has been changing the world ever faster since the 1960s.

Climate and AI - only the exponential function can save us?

Digital technology and the progressive destruction of the human living environment have something in common: both are phenomena characterized by exponential, i.e. accelerated, change processes. Artificial intelligence or, more precisely, machine learning is the latest and probably most powerful line of development in digitization - but how can it be used meaningfully in the service of sustainable developments?

Philipp Hämmerle has been part of the three-member Managing Board of Hypo Vorarlberg Bank AG as COO since 2020. Prior to this, he worked for over ten years at a major Austrian bank in Vienna.

The computer scientist played a key role in driving forward the digital transformation of Hypo Vorarlberg and putting the company's IT on a new footing. His focus includes the modernisation of the existing IT landscape, the exploitation of digitalisation potential, the expansion of cyber security and the establishment of a new (agile) cooperation between specialist departments and IT.

Changes in a medium-sized bank due to the digital transformation: opportunities, risks and lessons learned

The accelerating pace of digitalisation is a major challenge for medium-sized banks. More and more rules and regulations have to be fulfilled (Basel III & IV, EBA guidelines, DORA, ESG, etc.), cyber risks are increasing and new global players with well-filled coffers are entering the market and increasing the pressure to innovate.

The response to this development is not limited to new apps and IT tools, but must address the entire organisation and how innovations and optimisations can be identified and implemented. This applies to both IT and the specialist departments, i.e. the entire bank.

After his apprenticeship as an electronics technician for energy and building services engineering, he obtained the title of "master electrician" by passing the master craftsman's examination of the Chamber of Crafts. He has been working for dtm Datentechnik Moll GmbH since 1986. Initially, his focus was on the planning and documentation of electrical systems and passive networks. From 1990 on, he specialized in fiber optic splicing and measurement technology.

Since 1991 he has taken on increasingly demanding tasks. He plans and manages complex network and data center projects as well as energy-efficient solutions. In addition to technical, scheduling and economic implementation, his responsibilities include the design of framework agreements and the coordination of personnel deployment. The training and further education of employees is also in his hands. As senior project manager, he supports 6 other project managers at dtm. His professional competence and leadership skills led to him being given procuration.

Fjodor Lamm graduated in electrical engineering at the FH-Aachen with a focus on communications engineering. He gained experience in technical support and product management at KERPEN GmbH & Co.KG. He then worked in business development and product marketing at Nexans Deutschland GmbH, where he developed the FTTO and Industrial Ethernet product portfolio. At devolo AG he was Senior Product Manager for Smart Grid and later responsible for the portfolio of operators and Internet service providers. Currently, Fjodor Lamm is head of product management for copper and fibre optic cables and system technology at KERPEN DATACOM GmbH.

As a freelance expert, Manfred Patzke has been offering consulting, planning support (e.g. preparation of specifications), expert opinions and quality assurance during construction in the field of communication cable systems as well as equipotential bonding and grounding systems since 2005.

Manfred Patzke has been an active member of national and international standardization committees since 1998 and is therefore involved in the development of standards relevant to these fields.

With the MaPaCom seminars, Manfred Patzke has been offering training courses on topics such as application-neutral communication cable systems as well as potential equalization and grounding since 2005. The focus of the training courses is on strengthening quality awareness and communicating current changes to standards.

Quality assurance for fiber optic systems

An estimated 90 percent of the measurements used to check fiber optic cabling are inadequate and therefore unusable. As a result of incorrect measuring equipment, measuring methods and evaluation approaches, numerous installations are simply "nicely measured", but do not correspond to the quality that should result from the installed components.

As a consequence, installation errors are not detected and the real performance of the cabling is not available, which also often makes a later migration of the application impossible.

The lecture shows how to do it correctly on the basis of the specifications from the standards EN 50173 1 "Application-neutral communication cable systems" and DIN ISO/IEC 14763 3 "Measurement of fiber optic cabling".

After apprenticeship as a communications electronics technician and subsequent further training as a state-certified electrical engineering technician, with a focus on FR information and information electronics, Martin Kees has now been part of dtm Datentechnik Moll GmbH for 25 years. Initially, his responsibilities included measurement technology for passive infrastructure and the development of special technical solutions.

Tilo Steiger studied physics at the University of Konstanz and physical engineering at the TU Berlin. After completing his doctorate in materials at ETH Zurich and Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel, he supports researchers at ETH in the effective and efficient use of central IT infrastructures. His further studies in business in St.Gallen and cyber security at ETH are the basis for identifying "success reserves" in IT business processes and fundamentally assessing the current threat scenarios posed by cyber crime.

Energy efficiency in the data centre - sustainability with tape storage

Data growth is disproportionate and follows an exponential function. Analysts estimate that the amount of data stored will be between 25 and 200 zettabytes (ZB) in 2025. This is why "hyperscalers" save a lot of energy, money and CO₂ by storing "cold data" on tape. Heiko Ebermann is Senior Programme Manager for server and network cabinet cooling in the IT and Edge Infrastructure business unit at Vertiv. He studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Dresden and specialised in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics. Since spring 2000, he has been involved in the air-conditioning technology of server and network cabinets and has been systematically expanding this business area, first at Knürr AG, then within Emerson Network Power and now at Vertiv. Heiko Ebermann is a member of the international standards committee 48D at the IEC and chairman of the working group WG5, which deals specifically with enclosure air conditioning.
